Vidya Balan weds UTV CEO Siddharth Roy Kapur: Mehendi, Sangeet pics

Bollywood actress Vidya Balan, best known for her stellar performance as ‘Silk’ in the film Dirty Picture is tied the knot on Friday, December 14, with Siddharth Roy Kapur, the chief executive of UTV Motion Pictures.

Just days before the D-Day, the couple held the Mehendi and Sangeet ceremonies in Mumbai. Vidya was seen donning her trademark Kanjeevaram sarees and her favourite designer Sabyasachi’s Bengali outfits for the ceremonies.

The couple’s wedding was held in Vidya’s hometown Chembur and reflected both South Indian and Punjabi cultures.

The Sangeet ceremony was the first of Vidya-Siddharth’s pre-wedding ceremonies where Vidya, her sister Priya and her mother were all seen in traditional sarees and for the Mehendi ceremony the next day, the actress was seen dressed in a mustard-coloured Bengali outfit with traditional jewellery.

34-year-old Balan, born in Kerala, announced in May 2012 that she is dating Siddharth Roy Kapur and that she intends to marry him. The couple have worked together in the past in 2011 when UTV Motion Pictures was the official distribution company for Vidya Balan and Rani Mukherji’s critically acclaimed film No One Killed Jessica.

Vidya Balan is known to push the envelope in Bollywood by essaying a wide variety of bold and unconventional characters in women-oriented films such as No One Killed Jessica, Dirty Picture, Parineeta and Kahani.

Her work has earned her a place in the 25 Power Women list in magazine India Today.

While this is the actress’s first marriage, 38-year-old Roy Kapur has married twice previously.
