Osterley Gymkhana London hosts 70th Indian Independence Day Celebrations

On Sunday September 10th, the High Commission of India in London is hosting the 70th Indian Independence Day celebrations along with Indian community organizations such as Maharashtra Mandal London (MML). The free event will include the biggest flag painting and cultural events from 10am to 4pm at the Indian Gymkhana Club in London.

Every year the Indian Gymkhana Club at Osterley hosts one of the biggest Indian Independence Day celebrations in the UK in August. However, this year low-key celebrations were held at the Bharathi Vidya Bhavan in August. The announcement of Indian Gymkhana grounds celebrations will come as a pleasant addition to the Vidya Bhavan celebrations.

Highlights of 10th September Indian Gymkhana Celebrations

  • 11:00 AM – High Commissioner of India to the UK unfurling the Indian National flag at Gymkhana Club.
  • Rendering of the National Anthem
  • Cultural Events – Dance performances
  • Free Food and Drinks

This is an open event for the Indian Diaspora/ NRIs/ Friends of India.

The celebration will also include cultural programmes; free food stalls with a variety of Indian food from different regions of India, and a raffle draw with attractive prizes. You are requested to attend and disseminate this information to your relatives, friends and Indian Community members.

 According to MML, it will be a day full of fun, frolic, food and dance for families, with several activities designed for children and adults.

"Maharashtra Mandal London will be co-sharing a stall at this highly attended free communal event representing Maharashtrian heritage and cuisine. You are cordially invited to attend the flag-hoisting ceremony and the programs following it from 11 am onwards," said MML. "We are also looking for some volunteers to man the stall at different times of the day. Please come forward and be part of this proud moment, our second year in succession."
