LONDON -- Leander Paes and Russia’s Elena Vesnina narrowly lost to Americans Mike Bryan and Lisa Raymond in their Wimbledon mixed doubles final match.

The fourth seeded Paes-Vesnina duo were defeated 3-6, 7-5, 4-6 by second seeded Americans in a match that lasted for a little over two hours on Sunday.

Paes and Vesnina entered the mixed doubles final of the Wimbledon championships, after a stunning victory against top seeded Americans Bob Bryan and Liezel Huber.

The Indo-Russian pair have ended up as runners-up for the second time this season. Earlier, Paes-Vesnina had reached the final of the Australian Open but lost to Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Horia Tecau.

Paes is India’s highest Grand Slam title winner with 13 trophies, six of which are for mixed doubles.
