India’s Sania Mirza and Mahesh Bhupathi were out in the second round of Wimbledon after a straight-set defeat to Australian Paul Hanley and Russia's Alla Kudryavtseva.

The French Open champions Mirza-Bhupathi suffered a 3-6 1-6 defeat to the Hanley- Kudryavtseva duo on Saturday [June 30], in a 50-minute game.

In the second set, the winning pair won comfortably after sending down four aces and pushing the Indian duo to commit errors.

While today’s loss at mixed doubles marks the end of Bhupathi’s journey in Wimbledon this year, Mirza will be playing with Bethanie Mattek-Sands in the women's doubles for the third round.

Mirza and her partner Mattek-Sands crashed out of the third round of women's doubles at Wimbledon. India's hopes of a Wilmbledon win now rests solely on tennis ace Leander Paes who has qualified to play the final round of mixed doubles with his Russian partner against American second seeds.

Sania Mirza opted to be paired with Mahesh Bhupathi instead of Leander Paes and the pair's performance failed to impress Indian tennis fans. Mirza and Bhupathi have also qualified to play in London 2012 Olympic Games that will be in July-August 2012 in the UK capital.
