Marathi Mandal Reading organises annual Summer day for a good cause – Nepal Earthquake Relief

Reading-based Maharashtrians’ association Marathi Mandal Reading is organizing its all-day annual summer event on Sunday, July 26th 2015. While the summer day will be celebrated with all sporting activities and delicacies that Mumbaikars and Punekars love, the funds raised will be donated to the Nepal Earthquake Relief.

The event is open to all will comprise of cricket tournament for adults, kids’ cricket matches, Fun fair or Anand Mela featuring Mumbai chaat (such as vada pav, dabeli, pav bhaji, puran poli and samosa), biryani stalls, ice-cream and gola stalls, creativity stalls (henna, dainty gifts) and raffle and prize draws.

The Anand Mela and Cricket tournament will be held at the lush green and vast Shinfield Cricket Club, Millworth Lane, Shinfield. This is Marathi Mandal Reading’s 7th year of cricket tournament. Popular among its members, the first match will kick off at 8am and there will be 8 teams in total. Participants can either come with a whole team of 8 players or register as an individual player and MMR will form a team for them.

The cost will be £8 per player.

Budding Tendulkars, Kohlis and Dhonis can participate in the kids’ cricket session (two teams) around mid-day and win medals. Kids play for free.

For younger children and toddlers, there will be a variety of entertainment activities (slides, climbing frames, painting activities etc.)

According to the association, plenty of spaces available at a Car Park at Shinfield Parish Council, opposite to “Bell & Bottle Pub” on B3349 (Less than 5 minutes of walking distance from the Venue).

For those interested in setting up a stall will have to pay £20 or £10 for game stalls run by kids.
