Hailing from Haryana, she is trained as a classical dancer and her passion includes outdoor sports such as bungee jumping, snorkeling and scuba diving among others.

Her question was "Which Profession deserves the highest salary?" to which Manushi replied: "I think mothers are of highest respect. I don't think it is just about cash but love and respect she gives. She is the biggest inspiration in my life. Mothers should get the highest respect."

Winning the title, Manushi said she wants to make the country proud.

Manushi is India's sixth Miss World. England's Stephanie Jayne Hill is second runner up while Mexico's Andrea Meza is the first runner up. Many celebrities and poiliticians form India took to social media to congratulate Manushi and for making the country proud.

MP Shashi Tharoor, however, was caught in a controversy for his 'tongue-in-cheek tweet that was a play on the word "Chhillar" – "What a mistake to demonetise our currency! BJP should have realised that Indian cash dominates the globe: look, even our Chhillar has become Miss World!" But Twitter didn't think it funny and he later rendered an apology that was acknowledged by Manushi too.

Tharoor however praised Manushi's answer that mothers should earn highest respect when she was asked which profession deserves the highest salary. "What a terrific answer by this bright young woman -- a real credit to Indian values," Tharoor said.
